In this class we will discuss the process, pitfalls, and power of memoir writing. Whether you have been working on a long-form manuscript for years or are just dipping a toe into the tender territories of the personal essay, you will have the opportunity in this course to workshop, receive constructive feedback on, and breathe new life into your work. Not only will we will discuss structure, style, and fidelity to the truth; we will ask the most persistent memoirist’s questions: What constitutes truth in the first place? What makes a story worth telling? And how should a given story be told? Other published memoirists will visit the class to share their experiences.
